Just...Blessings

It's amazing how blessings can come about in your life. Who would have thought that Ben losing his job in Lindale would be a blessing? If we had never moved to Tyler for Ben's job in Lindale, and if Ben had never been laid off, we would have missed out on the opportunity Ben now has.
Ben lost his job 2 weeks before Christmas, and on Tuesday, January 17th, he had an interview with the city of New Braunfels, TX (between Austin and San Antonio). I was able to go with him so I could see the area in case he was offered the job. We liked it well-enough but went home unsure of the outcome. It was a short interview and they didn't ask a lot of questions, but he thought it went well.
On Friday, January 20th, Ben had an interview with the city of Missouri City, TX (near Houston). This one was on Skype. He thought it also went well and he liked the people that interviewed him.
About 10 minutes after his Skype interview, he got a phone call from New Braunfels offering him the position!! About 30 minutes after that, Missouri City called back to try to set up an in-person interview because they really liked him and wanted to meet him in person!! Wow. Both interviews were for positions as building inspectors for the city, which is the job he's been working toward for several years! With an actual offer on the table and knowing information about both cities, he chose to accept the position with New Braunfels!! Yay!! He starts on Monday, February 13th!
He has, in the past, applied a few times for a city building inspector in a variety of cities, but never even had an interview. We don't know what made the difference between the other times he's applied and now, but he can finally begin his career! We are so excited! We love the Tyler/east Texas area a lot because of pretty trees, green grasses, and lots of open country, and are sad to leave it behind, along with the people in our ward we've come to love. We also still miss Utah and wish that there had been as good of an opportunity there, but we're already in Texas now and so glad for him to begin this career. We think we will really like it there. We've had several people tell us that it's a good place to live. Years from now, maybe we'll move back to Utah (or anywhere more west)...but for now, we're ready to settle in and begin this new part of our lives. :)
Parting shot of Ben on the day he interviewed in New Braunfels. I took it...just in case!! :)
