I love to party on New Year's Eve! However, my kind of party does not include alcohol or clubs or bars or anything of the sort. It involves lots of food, games, and fun. Ben and I weren't able to get away to see either family for Christmas, but we were able to make a quick weekend trip to Midland for New Year's. We spent the evening at Peter and Adriane's house (Peter is the the brother of Duane, who is Delcie's husband, who is Ben's sister...did you follow that?). We ate mini hamburgers, pigs-in-a-blanket, meatballs, chips, a variety of dips, cheese and crackers, fudge, and other goodies. YUM! Then we played Taboo
(this is Dacie and she was so funny while playing Taboo. She would laugh a ton and kinda freak out and panic every time she tried to get us to guess the word)
and a new game called Curses. In curses, you have to complete a challenge card on each turn (ie "try to convince someone to switch to your long distance telephone company" or "demonstrate how you would transform into a werewolf"), but you may also have a curse on you (or two or three) that you have to remember throughout the game and/or while doing your challenge card! Here are the curses I had at one point, if you can read them:
Here's Tim keeping his hands in fists at all times and also having to pinch his nose when he spoke:
Here's Peter shouting and thrashing like a pro wrestler and keeping his hands in fists and also "glued" to his head:
Here's Mom Belk demonstrating how she would react to a racoon attacking her:
It's a pretty funny game and we had a really good time. At midnight, we counted down and popped our poppers and blew our blowers and forgot all about the sparkling cider!
We had a really good time and it was fun to be able to spend it with family instead of by ourselves. :) HAPPY NEW YEAR!
P.S. We were also able to enjoy some family time at the movies to go see the new Sherlock Holmes movie. Deegan (our nephew) works at the theater and was able to get everyone free drinks and popcorn. His immediate family plus one of us all got in for free, and then Mom and Dad Belk had tickets for the other 3 people. So much fun! Thank you!!! :)

That looks like you had a really good time. Families are fun. It is nice being able to have all that fun without alcohol, drugs, in a smoke free environment . Good post.
